1 acre of agricultural land costs £6000 approx when purchased in 10 acre lots,(the cost rises significantly when smaller paddock sizes up to £20,000 an acre)

1 acre= 4047 sq m

7 cells to form 1 "honeycomb allotment" = 35 sq m

so 115 "honeycombs allotments" per acre

so each "honeycomb allotment" costs £52 (before costs of purchase)

This is a simple 3D computer version of what may be expected to be the near maturity of the honeycomb plot. The outer ring consists of alternated berry bushes as a shrub layer and intermixes of dynamic accumulators (herbs) and a vegetable/foot layer. When the tree is fully grown, it will be able to support the growth of a climbing plant.

The Honeycomb Project is a community interest company. For those that don't know this is a not for profit company somewhere between a charity and company. Our assets of land, buildings,tools etc can never be sold for the profits of the directors, ever! They are protected by an "asset lock" which means any land we purchase will always belong to the community we serve! So all land bought for community farms will be held in "perpetuity" which means it will always be a community farm/orchard/allotment.

We aim to have a honeycomb project in every town ,so first we need to collect the people and find the site! If you want a community farm in your area or know of a patch of land you want to buy collectively log on your details and we can start the ball rolling! An avalanche starts from a small ball of snow! Once we have 1000 people per town its viable and self sustaining.It can be done on a smaller or larger level we just need to adjust the model.
