The Honeycomb Project is a community interest company. For those that don't know this is a not for profit company somewhere between a charity and company. Our assets of land, buildings,tools etc can never be sold for the profits of the directors, ever! They are protected by an "asset lock" which means any land we purchase will always belong to the community we serve! So all land bought for community farms will be held in "perpetuity" which means it will always be a community farm/orchard/allotment.
It is our aim that all the trees planted live out their natural productive lives! Some pear trees live up to 300 years and Yews up to 3000. We believe that our native species need help before they are lost forever so we will be planting local species even though the costs are higher.
We believe the strength of this project is dependant on the people involved. Money doesn't make positive change happen people do! Everything we have acheived so far has been done without funding from grants or sponsorship. We have done it because we believe in what we are doing and have made the sacrifices needed to acheive our goals. We have had set-backs but have persevered, single mindedly, in pursuit of the goals of saving the planet and improving it for generations to come!
