here we see the model.the central cell has a fruit,nut or medicinal herb tree,(we chose a cherry as there was others close by for pollination.)of the six hexagons that surround it 3 are fruit or herb bushes,(we chose currants for this one)the others are companion plants to prevent disease , improve soil health and draw up nutrients.alliums(onion family)are ideal companions in the cells with the fruit or pungent herbs e.g rocket,mizuna,oregano,thyme etc.these are still usefull harvestable crops of high value and cover the ground while the bush or tree establish itself.just make sure you mulch around the trunk of trees or bushes to prevent encroachment and competition for water and minerals,planting round the circumference of cell.
